AI in accounting and finance operations: the vendors selling to the CFO office
Finance teams buy carefully, and they are being pitched hard. Every step from an invoice arriving to a board pack leaving now has vendors promising that AI agents will do the work, and a new group is trying to replace the ledger itself.
This piece covers the vendors, not the finance teams. We checked 31 companies against their own websites, and pricing pages where published, on 26 September 2026, and profile 30 of them here, grouped by the job each one does.
The short version
- The work splits into five groups: the close and the ledger; payables, receivables and spend; tax and audit for accounting firms; planning and forecasting; and vendors built for India.
- A new ledger is being sold. Rillet calls itself "the agentic ERP", Campfire "The AI-native ERP" and DualEntry "The AI ERP to end month-end", and Numeric sells a full ERP replacement alongside its close tools.
- Some vendors are dropping the seat. The tax-prep company Juno prices per return, Filed charges a flat monthly plan and says "We don't charge per seat, per return, or per credit", and FloQast advertises "No Per-User Fees".
- Big buyers are moving in. Capital One completed its acquisition of Brex in April 2026, and BlackLine acquired NetNow in September 2026.
The close and the ledger
These vendors handle reconciliations, journal entries and the month-end close, and some now want to replace the general ledger underneath.
FloQast sells accounting workflow automation to enterprise accounting teams. BlackLine says "ERPs record your past. Our Agentic AI powers you today." and on 21 September 2026 announced it has acquired NetNow, a customer onboarding and credit risk tool. Trintech, headquartered in Plano, Texas, sells reconciliation and financial close software. Numeric calls itself "The data platform for finance teams" and sells close, revenue and cash tools as well as an ERP replacement.
The newest entrants go further. Rillet calls itself "the agentic ERP", promising a "Zero-Day Close" to mid-market, enterprise and public companies. Campfire sells "The AI-native ERP, powered by Accounting Intelligence". DualEntry sells "The AI ERP to end month-end".
Payables, receivables and spend
The busiest job in our sample.
Ramp sells cards, expenses, bill pay and banking, with agents "for every workflow". It has said it closed two acquisitions, Billhop for UK and European payments and a guest travel company also called Juno, unrelated to the tax-prep company below. Brex sells cards, expenses, banking and travel, and Capital One completed its acquisition of Brex on 7 April 2026, describing it as an AI-native software platform. Tipalti sells "AI built for finance, without sacrificing control", In June 2025 it signed a deal to acquire Statement that it said was expected to close shortly. Today Tipalti's treasury page sells Statement Treasury as a Tipalti product, and statement.io still runs under the Statement brand.
Stampli, headquartered in Mountain View, sells "The intelligent Procure-to-Pay platform". Vic.ai, headquartered in New York, sells AI invoice processing, with pages for CFOs, controllers and payables teams. HighRadius, headquartered in Houston, sells what it calls autonomous finance to the office of the CFO. Tesorio sells receivables, collections and cash forecasting to finance teams.
Tax and audit for accounting firms
These vendors sell to the firms that do the accounting, not the companies that need it.
Basis sells "Agents you can actually rely on. Built specifically for accountants." Juno, the tax-prep company, automates tax preparation for modern tax firms. Black Ore sells "Enterprise-Grade AI for the Tax Profession" to enterprise CPA firms. Filed works inside a firm's existing tax software. MindBridge, headquartered in Ottawa, says it "analyzes 100% of financial transactions" for finance and audit teams. DataSnipper sells agentic automation for audit and finance. Karbon sells practice management to accounting firms, and in September 2025 announced its acquisition of Aider, which makes AI advisory and reporting tools.
Planning and forecasting
Anaplan, headquartered in Miami, calls itself "The decision infrastructure for the Agentic Enterprise", and in 2025 announced the acquisition of Syrup Tech, which it describes as "an AI-native supply chain platform", covered in our ecommerce landscape. Pigment sells business planning powered by agentic AI to enterprises. Abacum sells "The AI-native FP&A platform you can actually run". Cube calls itself "The agentic FP&A platform". cfo.ai, which launched in September 2026 as the new name of the planning company Runway, sells Ari, an AI CFO for founders.
India
India's compliance load has produced its own vendors. Zoho Books sells an "AI-ready accounting platform for growing businesses". Clear sells e-invoicing and tax compliance to growing businesses and large enterprises. Finifi, headquartered in Bengaluru, sells "Operations AI that Operates" across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and reconciliation. Kapittx, with offices in Pune, sells "AI for Finance Operations", starting with receivables.
What to ask before you buy
- Who signs off what the agent posts? In finance, an agent that books a journal entry needs an approver and an audit trail. Ask to see both.
- Are you replacing the ledger or adding to it? AI-native ERPs ask for a migration; close and payables tools sit on top of what you have. The risk is different.
- Who owns this vendor now? A bank now owns Brex, and several deals here closed this year.
- How is it priced when volume grows? Per user, per return, per entity and per invoice behave very differently as your business grows. Ask for the price at your next stage.
If you sell one of these products, expect these questions in the first reply.
How we did this
We checked 31 companies against their own websites, and pricing pages where published, on 26 September 2026, and profile 30 of them here, described the way each describes itself. We left out Chaser, whose homepage leads with receivables automation rather than AI. Deals come from the companies' own announcements, and we report each as announced or completed exactly as those sources state. The list covers the vendors we examined, not the whole market.
If something here is out of date or wrong about your company, tell us and we will correct it with the source.
